Yoga for Endometriosis and Pelvic Pain

Endometriosis affects approximately 176 million people worldwide and is one of the leading causes of pelvic pain. People managing this disease can struggle with acute pain episodes, chronic pain, and other debilitating symptoms which can drastically impact quality of life.

Although there is no cure for endometriosis, Yoga and Yoga Therapy can provide an integrative approach to treating endometriosis, dysmenorrhoea (painful menstruation), and pelvic pain.

In this 7-week Yoga series, Yoga Therapist and Teacher Sarah Garden (she/her/hers) will guide us through the things we need to know for our students/clients dealing with endometriosis and its associated symptoms.

Using a biopsychosocial model, this workshop series will provide participants with a deeper understanding of endometriosis, its symptoms, and potential complications. We'll also learn how other symptoms can be linked to endometriosis such as:

  • Dysmenorrhoea (painful periods)
  • Dysuria (painful urination)
  • Dyschezia (painful/difficult pooping)
  • Dyspareunia (painful intercourse)

and how to use yoga therapy tools to treat them.

When: Thursdays Sep 21 - Nov 2 @ 3:30pm PDT | 5:30pm CDT | 6:30pm EDT

Cost: $200 USD

The workshop series will also give participants:

  • Clarity on pain types, how endometriosis is categorized, and the complexity of working with endometriosis symptoms
  • Knowledge of the role of mixed pain types in endometriosis
  • Guidance on how a biopsychosocial approach to treatment can help
  • Perspective on the lived experience of endometriosis and the skills to listen, acknowledge and teach patients how to take an active role in their own disease management
  • Tools for healthcare practitioners to educate their patients/clients and provide them with non-pharmacological/surgical tools to manage their pain and symptoms.
